TRANSFORMING LIVES

GIVING HOPE TO VULNERABLE KIDS & SLUM RESIDENTS

At MACODEP, our primary objectives revolve around providing essential healthcare and support services to underserved individuals in society. Our organization is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of disadvantaged residents in the Kibra slums through initiatives focused on healthcare provision, HIV/AIDS intervention, environmental sanitation, and paramountly, fostering economic empowerment.

MACODEP CHILDREN'S RESCUE CENTRE & SCHOOL

Children residing in our Children’s Rescue Centre hail from diverse backgrounds: some lack a safe or nurturing relationship with their primary caregivers, others have experienced dispossession of property and disinheritance, while some have tragically lost family members to violence and illness.

The World's 2nd Largest Slum

Kibra is widely recognized as the largest slum in East Africa and the second largest in the entire continent, following Soweto, South Africa.

Across the developing world, there’s a notable trend of impoverished individuals migrating from rural regions to urban centers in pursuit of employment opportunities, sustenance, and stability.

THE Got Osimbo Project

Got Osimbo project is a dedicated endeavor aimed at enhancing the care and support for orphaned and vulnerable children residing in the MACODEP Children’s Rescue Centre. Situated in a safer environment within Northern Ugenya, Siaya County, this initiative has been strategically located due to the significant number of children in our care originating from Western Kenya, particularly Siaya County.

The Makina Clinic

As of 2015, MACODEP’s clinic has been instrumental in catering to the daily healthcare needs of 60 to 100 individuals. Our clinic offers comprehensive services ranging from health consultations and prescription dispensation to emergency deliveries for women unable to reach a hospital in time. Additionally, our facility houses a small pharmacy and a dedicated laboratory, where patients can access essential diagnostic tests for prevalent conditions like HIV and typhoid, addressing the healthcare challenges prevalent in the Kibra community.
